About Us

Namaste! We sell Nepali lokta paper (Nepali kagat) - a wildcrafted, artisan paper indigenous to the Himalayan foothills - and items we make from this paper. Sameer hand selects our paper in Kathmandu and the paper-making districts in eastern and western Nepal to ensure a quality product. We also sell handcrafted items sourced from the village artisans Sameer grew up with.

Sameer, a trekking guide, is from Dolakha District, which contains an abundance of lokta and contributes significantly to the national economy. Dolakha is located in the central regions of Nepal and is bordered by the People's Republic of China and the Nepali districts of Ramechap, Solokhumbu, and Sindhupalchok. The 2015 Gorkha earthquake destroyed his home and he now lives in Kathmandu, a dusty chaotic city and one of the oldest continuously-inhabited places in the world.

Lisa is a geologist and former web developer for NASA. I volunteer for the Appalachian Mountain Club, writing content and programming the Western MA chapter's website. Sameer and I met on a mountain trek in Langtang, Bagmati province in 2016. We now work together selling Nepali lokta paper, in the hope it provides a better quality of life for Sameer and the paper-making artisans we buy from.
